MLC says the area needs jobs, not just houses
Whole community development in the north and west is needed rather than a plan that would see new homes built on greenfield sites.
That's from Legislative Council member and demographer Paul Craine, who says a regional development problem has left the north with a falling population.
Mr Craine says the majority of the northern parishes have a higher average age than other areas of the Island.
He told Manx Radio he was uncomfortable with the recently defeated Area Plan for the North and West as it didn't look at the bigger picture:
'Essential' that school staff recognise the signs of an allergic reaction
'High' risk of wildfires over the next week
'Come From Away' to continue after cast member injured during rehearsal
'Parks in worse state then when I started' says Peel commissioner
