Firefighters tackle small weekend blaze
People on the Island are being urged to keep reflective or glass items away from windowsills after a fire.
The Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service was called to the ‘small’ blaze yesterday (14 March).
Firefighters say it was started by sunlight being magnified through an object and focussing heat onto nearby materials.
“It doesn’t take much for this to happen. Items like glass, mirrors, or even clear bottles can sometimes act like a magnifying lens in direct sunlight.” – Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service
It hasn’t been revealed where the fire happened but firefighters say it was brought under control quickly.
