RCM concerned over shortage of midwives on Island
Women on the Isle of Man should have ‘choice’ when it comes to delivering their babies.
The Royal College of Midwives has highlighted a shortage of midwives and no clear model for maternity care as the biggest challenges the maternity service is facing.
Representatives from the union have visited the Island this week to meet with Manx Care to discuss their concerns – including a 19 per cent shortfall.
Karen Murray, the RCM lead for the Island, says whilst there is a ‘high level of service’ more could be done to improve people’s experiences:
Candidates could need to declare interests to stand in 2026 General Election
Customs and Excise office to relocate
Douglas man convicted in Island's 'most complex child abuse image investigation'
Temporary lights installed on Douglas promenade
