Work on rebuilding NSC facilities has started

Closures while work is carried out

Work on replacing the indoor facilities at the National Sports Centre ruined in the floods last week has started.

The two sports halls, the squash centre and the bowling hall are being stripped and dried ahead of being reinstated - they will be back on line by April at the earliest.

The Hockey astro pitch will be closed for the remainder of this season.

Work on a new playing surface will start in the Spring with an expected reopening in late June.

The extent of damage at The Bowl is still being investigated and it will remain closed for the time being.

The Athletics track needs to be sanitised and the drains cleaned - it will be out of action until at least late January.

Head of Sport Paul Bridson says the damage is a big blow to Manx sport but a brand new NSC will emerge:-
