Steam Packet to issue further update later after 48 hours of cancellations

The Steam Packet Company is apologising to passengers after a significant technical issue resulted in the cancellation of today's and yesterday's Manannan sailings.

The fastcraft suffered a generator failure overnight on Saturday, which the operator says requires significant maintenance and testing before the vessel can return to service.

Passengers have been transferred to Manxman where possible with coaches laid on for foot passengers between Liverpool and Heysham, while the Ben-my-Chree is undertaking overnight freight to free up capacity.

Engineers are continuing to work on the vessel, with a further update expected by 5pm today.

Steam Packet Managing Director Brian Thomson says: "We’re very sorry about these cancellations and we apologise for the disruption caused. We’re working hard to get things back on track as soon as we can. Our Reservations Team will do everything they can to ensure customers get where they need to go."
