
The Isle of Man's work permit system is set for a shake-up.
A bill has passed through the House of Keys which would essentially make it easier for an employer to give a job to a non-Island worker.
However the Control of Employment Bill does not do away with work permits altogether.
Economic Development Minister John Shimmin says the existing legislation dates back to 1975, and the Island is a very different place 40 years on.
He says this new bill should strike the right balance:
