Wrightbus administration could affect Manx double deckers

Bus Vannin vehicles use Wrightbus bodies

The Department of Infrastructure hopes UK bus manufacturers Wrightbus can be "rescued in some way".

Bus Vannin's Volvo double deckers use bodies from the business, which is currently at risk of going under.

In a statement the DoI says it's had an, "excellent relationship with Wrightbus over many years."

It adds that it doesn't expect any short-term parts problems, while the future of the company is to be determined by administrators.

Full government statement:

"The Volvo double deck buses used by Bus Vannin are fitted with Wrightbus bodies. The Department of Infrastructure has had an excellent relationship with Wrightbus over many years, having previously operated single deck vehicles as well as the current double deck fleet.

"The Department hopes that the business can be rescued in some way so that skilled jobs can be saved in Northern Ireland.

"Standard service parts are from Volvo or other proprietary brands so no short-term parts problems are expected while the future of Wrightbus is determined by the administrators."
