
The Manx government’s being accused of paying 'lip service' to plans to introduce a travel levy to cover medical insurance.
Last month, the House of Keys unanimously backed a move by Onchan member Peter Karran to come forward with proposals to provide medical treatment for Island residents who fall ill in the UK and vice versa.
However, chairman of the Liberal Vannin Party, Kate Beecroft, says despite requests, there’s been no constructive meetings with government to progress the issue.
And she claims the Attorney General’s office is too busy to help the party as it's busy drafting legislation for the DHSS for a safety net scheme for those who can’t get insurance.
