Youngsters need more facilities - Craine

Moves towards developing and enhancing facilities for children and young people in the Isle of Man are continuing, as part of the government's Strategic Plan.

A working group, consisting of politicians and members of the public, will report back to the chief minister before the summer recess.

Education Minister Anne Craine (pictured), the chairman of the group, says there aren't enough places for youngsters to go:

She told Manx Radio:

"I know that in going out and talking to the community, as part of this working group, what we'll find initially is that people want to have ice rinks and bowling alleys and discos, and that's fine, and clearly there is a place for those things.

"But I think it's important that we recognise as a community that we have to start putting facilities in place for young people to enable them to develop their social lives."
