'Island faces difficult tax decisions', warns candidate

A general election candidate in East Douglas says the Isle of Man can expect some pain when it comes to taxes.

John Karran, 62, is a chef who describes his politics as 'just left of centre'.

If he is successful next month, he says his priority would be to look after the most vulnerable people in society, who are likely to find the next few years difficult.

Mr Karran says, when it comes to raising taxes, some hard decisions will have to be made (listen to audio file below):

The five other candidates in East Douglas are outgoing members Brenda Cannell and Chris Robertshaw, and challengers Richard Kissack, Paul Moulton and Geraldine O'Neill.
