Archery: Medal success at Scottish Championships

Sleight takes gold in female traditional recurve class

Three Isle of Man archers have secured success in the recent Scottish Field Archery Indoor Championships in Edinburgh.

Rose Sandilands - a member of the Scottish Association - had a convincing win by over 20 points in the adult female bowhunter unlimited class becoming the Scottish Champion.

Meanwhile, John Angiolini - also a Scottish Association member - took home the bronze medal in the adult male freestyle compound class.

It was a hotly-contested category with just five points separating all the medals positions.

Rose and John with two team mates from their Scottish Club Palacerigg Field archers took the bronze medal in the team competition.

Lesley Sleight who is a member of the English Field Archery Association took Gold in the adult female traditional recurve class.

Her score was higher than the Scottish record and she also outscored the men in her class.

Lesley was drafted in at the last minute to join three others to make up a mixed  team which to her surprise won gold in the team competition.

All three archers are members of Bowderyn Field Archery Club and Isle of Man Archery Club.
