Athletics: Mullarkey and Astin shine at English cross-country relays

Astin also enjoyed brilliant half marathon debut recently

Manx athletes Sarah Astin and David Mullarkey shone at the English National Cross-Country Relays in Mansfield at the weekend (5 November).

Mullarkey took part in the men's race as part of the Leeds City team which went on to claim the gold medal in the contest.

Meanwhile, Astin ran the fourth fastest leg time of the day out of the 396 competitors who took part in the senior women's relay.

Her club, Belgravia Harriers, were unable to field a full team, but Sarah did manage to compete in the first leg, after which she was sat in third place in a strong field.

It comes after Sarah also enjoyed a sensational half marathon debut recently in the women's event of the Royal Borough of Kingston Half Marathon.

There, she stormed to victory in a time of 76 minutes 50 seconds.
