Meeting for interested athletes taking place tonight (30 October)
The first stages of putting together the Isle of Man athletics team for the 2025 Island Games take place this evening (30 October).
A meeting is taking place at 7pm this evening at the Manx Harriers clubhouse at the NSC for anyone interested in being part of the squad heading to Orkney from 12-18 July next year.
Coaches and parents are also welcome to attend with athletics officials to provide key details on numerous matters including selection criteria, dates, travel plans and fundraising.
The Isle of Man was well-represented in athletics at the previous games in Guernsey in 2023 with 33 individuals - 18 male and 15 female - making up the athletics team.
No fewer than 20 of them made their games debuts last year.
Furthermore, the Isle of Man enjoyed multiple successes in athletics in Guernsey across a wide range of disciplines.
Among those achievements in track and field, Rachael Franklin claimed gold and new games records in both the women's 5,000m and 1,500m races; Aimee Christian won women's 400m hurdles bronze and Tazmin Fayle bagged bronze in the women's discus.
Gold and silver in the men's high jump came through Regan Corrin and James Margrave respectively and Joe Harris stormed to gold in the men's javelin.
Both the men's and women's 4x100m relay teams took bronze in their respective contests.
Also included in the honours the Isle of Man took four medals in the half-marathon events.
In the men's race Corrin Leeming won individual gold with he and Alan Corlett claiming team gold; Franklin took individual gold in the women's race whilst she and Rebekah Pate took team silver.
