Athletics: Winners crowned at IoM Marathon and Half-Marathon Championship

Felton-Smith, Darby, Draper and Barber among victorious competitors

The winners of the 2026 Isle of Man Marathon and Half-Marathon Championship were crowned yesterday (9 August) during a big turnout of competitors in Ramsey at the weekend.

More than 500 participants took part across both events in the north of the Island, with Thomas Felton-Smith taking the men's and overall top spot in the marathon contest in two hours, 42 minutes and 51 seconds.

Following just over two minutes later in second place was Manx Harriers competitor, Fortune Nzama (two hours, 44 minutes and 54 seconds) with Chun Man Tam (two hours, 47 minutes and nine seconds) completing the men's podium in third.

Meanwhile, the women's marathon race was won by Kat Darby of Tamar Trotters in three hours, 26 minutes and 50 seconds with Carmel Edwards of Kirkby Millers securing second place (three hours, 29 minutes and 21 seconds).

Mornington Chasers member, Christiana Akingbola (three hours, 43 minutes and 44 seconds) rounded out the women's marathon top trio.

Elsewhere, the half-marathon race saw Manxman, Will Draper take first place in the men's and overall standings in a time of one hour and ten minutes ahead of Nicholas Colburn of Manx Fell Runners (one hour, 17 minutes and 39 seconds) in second whilst third place in the men's and overall event went to Tim Goldy (one hour, 17 minutes and 43 seconds).

In the women's half-marathon, it was Kirsty Barber who scooped top honours - her time of one hour, 25 minutes and 23 seconds saw her secure first place ahead of Clara Isaac (one hour, 29 minutes and three seconds) and Annabelle Caton (one hour, 32 minutes and 12 seconds).

More generally, this weekend's action also marked the first round of the 2026 No Rest For The Wicked Series which sees six different races take place over six days across the Isle of Man.

The second round of the series, the Peel Hill Race, is due to take place this evening (10 August).
