Ayre collapse in northern derby

Ayre remain in trouble at the foot of the Canada Life Premier League.

They led 2-0 at Ramsey at half-time in the northern derby but collapsed 7-3 at Ballacloan as their miserable run continued.

A hat-trick from Jamie Moffitt, two from Mike Fernandes and one apiece from Chris Halsall and Chris Dougen ensured Johnny Kelly (two) and James Teare’s goals were only consolations for the Tangerines.

Rushen are up to second after a 7-1 victory at Ramsey Youth Centre.

The home side, for whom Jason Craine opened the scoring, pushed the southerners closely in the first half but it was a comprehensive victory in the end.

Josh Kelly, Mike Williams, Aaron Hawley, Adam Cregeen, Steven Riding, Ashley Sansbury and Andy Bunce were on target for Rushen.

Goals from Jamie Stoy and Kane Ridings fired Corinthians to a 2-1 win over Castletown, whose marksman was Mike Edge.

Mark McCarrick gave battling Gymns hope when he opened the scoring against St John’s.

But it was the westerners who went onto win 4-2 at Tromode with Andy Glover, Nick Hurt, Steven Glover and Chris Blackburn all finding the net.
