Bacchas and Vikings in crunch match

Sam Spooner previews weekend matches (7 Nov)

Both Bacchas and Vikings are desperate to win this weekend in the Rossborough Men’s Premier League with Bacchas currently sitting top of the table 2 points clear of the chasing pack which is led by Vikings.

Both sides have been fairly free scoring this season but a disappointing result against Valkyrs has seen Vikings fall behind. If Vikings can win it closes the contest up again. However, if Bacchas win then they will have an almost unassailable lead against one of their fiercest rivals.

Meanwhile, Valkyrs A hope to take advantage of the result between Bacchas and Vikings when they take on Vikings B.

Elsewhere, there is a bottom of the table clash between Saracens and Harlequins A whilst Ramsey A hope to continue to fight for a top four finish when they play Bacchas B.

The women’s top flight also sees a first vs second game on the cards with Vikings A taking on Castletown A. Both sides have scored fairly freely this season by scoring 27 and 25 goals respectively.

It is not inconceivable that Castletown A may surprise a few people this weekend and a few pundits have already been embarrassed by Castletown this year.

Elsewhere, a close battle is on the cards when Valkyrs A take on Bacchas A.

Bacchas  are desperate to consolidate their top four position and confirm to everyone that they can mix it with the best whilst Valkyrs will be keen to continue their chase of Vikings at the top of the table.

Meanwhile, there is a bottom of the table clash between Saracens and Harlequins  whilst Valkyrs B take on Ramsey A with the latter looking to kick start their season after a  faltering start.

In Rossborough Women’s Division One, league leaders Bacchas B have the week of meaning the chasing pack have a great chance to put pressure on them.

Valkyrs C are the first side to try and join the league leaders on 6 points when they face Bacchas C who may well be strengthened by a number of under 18 players being available this week meaning Valkyrs will need to be on top form to take both points on offer.

Castletown B take on Vikings C in a game that see’s the southerners as favourites and hoping they can continue their quietly impressive rise to the top of the table and go level on points with Bacchas B.

Vikings B meanwhile will be hoping to overcome bottom side Ramsey B and regain top spot.
