Bacchas edge thriller

Bacchas A won a five goal thriller to maintain their three point lead at the top of the Wi-Manx men’s Premier League on Saturday.

Goals from Jonny Callow (two) and Sean Corlett sealed a 3-2 victory over Vikings A – for whom Gerry Quinn and Andy Harding scored - to all but end their title hopes.

Valkyrs A kept up the pressure at the top with a 6-3 victory over Bacchas B.

Oli Lockley (two), Oli Webster (two), Chris Caldwell and Neil Jacobs grabbed their goals with Tony Bentley-Roberts, Alex Bell and Andy Vernon-Browne finding the net for Bacchas B.

Vikings B eased their relegation worries as they leapfrogged Harlequins A by defeating them 6-2.

Doubles from Ian Perry and John Bateson and one apiece from James Murden and Christian Davis meant Chris Cave and Tony Mansell goals were consolations.

Castletown A moved up to fourth with a 5-0 victory over bottom club Saracens – James Ormond (two), Dale Williams, Sven Lundeque and Donald Stewart the scorers.

Champions Vikings A made it eight wins out of eight in the Wi-Manx women’s Premier League.

They saw off third placed Castletown A with ease.

Kim Carney (two), Karen Faragher (two) and Zoe Carney grabbed the goals in a 5-0 success.

Valkyrs A kept up their own title hopes with a 3-1 victory over Bacchas A.

Andrea Kneen, Lorna Kennaugh and Sarah McChesney were on target with Jenny Vernon-Browne scoring for Bacchas.

Ramsey A overcame basement battlers Castletown B 4-1.

Natasha Moore (two), Alex Callow and Hannah Grubb scored for the northerners with Sally Walker scoring for Town.
