Young Manx cyclist Chris Whorrall came second in a hotly contested Sid Standard road race in Nottinghamshire on Sunday.
The race featured many strong breaks over the 65 mile route, but it was Glendene Cycling Club rider Joe Perret who broke away near the end to win by 17 seconds.
As the rest of the bunch made its way up the finishing hill, there was a clash of wheels which brought down approximately twenty riders, but Manx Road Club star Whorrall managed to avoid it and pulled away from what was left of the bunch.
Last year's winner Tim Kennaugh and Chris Nicholson, both of Team Isle of Man, weren't so lucky and got caught up in the crash, Nicholson getting cuts and bruises as well as some bike damage.
The next round of the National Junior Road Race Series takes place here on the Island over the early May bank holiday weekend.
