Cavendish signs for Team Sky - claim

Mark Cavendish has reportedly signed a £1.5 million a year deal with Team Sky, with him joining the outfit from next season.

The claim has been made by journalist Richard Moore in The Daily Mail, who says the deal was agreed during the Giro d'Italia.

Cavendish has not denied it either.

Tweeting earlier today he said, "As always, I can't go one race without some sort of sh*t going on. At least it's not a crash this time!

"I will say I'm committed to HTC-Highroad until the end of this year, and I'm concetrating (sic) now on (the) Tour de France."

Team Sky has also refused to comment, for now, saying no announcement about new signings will be made until August 1, when the rules of the International Cycling Union’s World Tour will allow them to do so.

If it goes ahead Cavendish will join the likes of fellow Manx cyclist Peter Kennaugh, Island resident Ben Swift and Bradley Wiggins on the Team Sky roster.
