Manx swimmer and GB champion ready for "next chapter"
One of the Island's top athletes has announced her retirement from competitive swimming.
Charlotte Atkinson is hanging up her goggles to pursue, what she describes as, the next chapter in her life.
Among her many accolades, the Manx swimmer was the first from the Isle of Man to ever be British champion; a title she went onto claim three times.
Atkinson was also the first swimmer from the Isle of Man in 50 years to compete in an individual Commonwealth Games final at the 2018 Gold Coast comp, holds 58 Manx swimming records, and made the final at the World Championships.
In a post on social media, Atkinson thanked her family, friends, coaches, staff and sponsors for all their help during her career and said she's looking forward to starting training to be a Physician Associate at St George’s Medical School in London.
