Consultants are overused, says candidate

A candidate in the House of Keys general election in September says the Manx government needs to do more itself, rather than hand jobs to consultants.

Taxi firm boss Paul Heavey, who will contest the single seat in Michael, says too often the government hands over cash to specialist advisers rather than oversee the work properly itself.

Mr Heavey says with money as tight as it is, more expert advice should be sought on-Island.

On Manx Radio's Talking Heads he said he would like to see departments taking on more work themselves, rather than contracting services out (listen to audio file below):

Three people have declared in Michael so far, the others being Alfred Cannan and David Talbot.
