Corinthians beat Laxey and Storm Dennis

Only one game survives weather

Storm Dennis had a big impact on the Manx football fixtures yesterday.

Postponements came in thick and fast as pitch inspections took place yesterday morning leaving just one match to be played.

The ECAP FA Cup tie between Laxey and Corinthians only went ahead because it was switched to The Bowl.

In dreadful conditions, Laxey took the lead early on through Jordan Cooper.

Despite playing largely against the severe wind, Laxey also had the better of the chances in the first half.

Possibly a stern half-time talk saw Corinthians come out strongly and they equalised after 51 minutes with Kane Ridings finding the back of the net.

Laxey took the lead in the closing stages through Max Murley only for Corinthians to score almost straight away through a Luke Murray header.

Corinthians hit the front for the first time with 9 minutes to go when Luke Murray was on hand to score the winner after the goal-keeper couldn't hold on to a shot from a free-kick.

Corinthians now face Ramsey Youth Centre away in the first round with the winners of that tie away to Colby in the quarter-finals.
