Corinthians hit Royal for six!

Newly promoted Corinthians claimed their first points of the season on Saturday – and they did so in style!

The bottom club thrashed Douglas Royal 6-0 and, while they stay bottom, they’ll hope the result will spark a winning run to avoid the drop.

Hat-tricks each from Steven Glover and Jamie Stoy ensured it was a day to remember for Corinthians against their neighbours.

At the summit, reigning champions St. George's moved five points clear at the top of the Sure Mobile Premier League with an 8-0 thrashing of Ayre.

Martin Torr scored FIVE against his former club with strike partner Callum Morrissey netting two and promising young talent Connor Doyle getting the other.

A Kerron Christian hat-trick helped third placed Peel continued their winning form with a 3-2 home success over Union Mills.

However, the Millers, who slip to sixth following the defeat, battled hard and a brace from defender Carl Dobbin kept them in the hunt.

Laxey are fourth after a 4-1 home win over Gymns.

Ross Williamson, Jon Callow, Lee Cowley and Sam Theobold were the Miners’ marksmen with Mark Connor netting for Gymns in the first half.

Rushen edged out Ramsey 2-0 with a goal in each half from Aaron Hawley and Steve Ridings to keep their Railway Cup aspirations alive, while St Mary's beat St John's 3-1 with goals from Steven Priestnal, Marc Priestnal and Josh Thomas to claim only their second win of the season and move up a spot in the table.

St John’s, whose scorer was Wes Kitching, remain in the relegation zone.
