Cross country challenge starts this weekend

The first round of the 2010/11 Manx Gas Cross Country season takes place this Sunday, October 17.

The Manx Harriers-organised event is being held on a new course at Ballanette in Lonan, with racing getting under way at 2pm.

As always there are races for all age groups from under-9s right up to seniors and veterans.

A short course option is also available for senior, veteran and under-20 competitors.

The venue can be accessed from the Groudle Road or from the main Douglas to Laxey Road at the southern end of Baldrine.

A map and the full race programme are on the cross country page at iomaa.info

There will be a registration session for the cross country league today (Friday) at the Manx Harriers Clubhouse at the NSC from 5.45pm to 6.45pm.

You can complete your registration form for the series, collect your number and pay your fee for the first round (£4 for runners aged 18 and over who are members of an athletic club, £6 for unattached runners aged 18 and over, and £3 for under-18 competitors).

Registration will also be available on the day of the race at Ballanette from 1pm, but you are encouraged to register today (Friday) to save time on the day.
