Trebles for Breen and Cole

Peel moved to top spot in the group stage of the Regency Travel Floodlit Cup after defeating Colby 3-0 on Sunday.

Maxine Smalley gave the westerners the lead just before half-time and netted again shortly after the break.

Douglas Royal registered the biggest scoreline of the afternoon after defeating newcomers to women’s football, Douglas Athletic, 11-3.

Leading 7-0 at the break, there were hat-tricks for Sarah Breen and Rebecca Cole.

Ceri Purvis netted twice, there was one apiece from Zoe Hawley and Charlene Grayson and an own goal.

Athletic replied through Toni Beresford, Kelly Cannell and Dawn Tyreman.
