Manxman sprints to victory after close-fought battle
Isle of Man cyclist, Matthew Bostock claimed victory during the inaugural City of London Nocturne race last weekend (13 June).
Representing Rapha Cycling Club, the Island competitor swept to a sprint finish to take top honours in the men's elite race ahead of Alpecin-Deceuninck Development Team rider, Cameron Mason who came in second.
Alec Briggs of TEKKERZ CC completed the men's race podium a short distance back in third place.
Furthemore, the win lifts Bostock up six places in the Rapha Super-League standings to second on 63 points with Thomas Armstrong still leading the men's series on 84 points.
Separately, French rider, Nina Lavenu of the AG Insurance Soudal Development Team went on to win the women's race, breaking clear late on from Kate Richardson of Handsling Alba Development Road Team in second, who in turn stayed one second clear of Morven Yeoman of the DAS-Hutchinson squad in third spot.
Along with his current commitments, Bostock is also due to represent the Isle of Man in track cycling at this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow which will take place from 23 July to 2 August.
