Manxman produces strong ride to finish second in Catterick

Isle of Man pro cyclist Max Walker has taking the silver medal in the men's elite time trial at this year's British National Road Championships.

Walker - who competes for the Astana Qazaqstan Development Team - finished the course in Catterick in 40 minutes and 35 seconds.

For the Manxman it's now back-to-back top-three finishes after he claimed second overall at the ZLM Tour in the Netherlands earlier this month.

Prior to that he also took two stage victories and finished fourth in the points standings during the Tour of Japan in May.

Elsewhere, fellow Island rider Tyler Hannay was also in time-trial action in the men's under-23 time trial event.

The Saint Piran competitor finished 12th overall in a time of 43 minutes 41.57 seconds - one minute 34.7 seconds behind eventual winner Tomos Pattinson.
