Emphatic win for FC Isle of Man

Manx club secures second win of the season

FC Isle of Man put in a dominant performance to secure an emphatic 6-1 win over Cammell Laird 1907 FC in the North West Counties First Division South.

It didn't take the Ravens long to make their mark as Luke Murray opened the scoring inside the opening minute.

The visitors continued to threaten throughout the first half, but a series of saves from the home side's goalkeeper kept Laird in the contest at half time.

Murray struck again moment after the restart to double FC Isle of Man's lead, before Chris Cannell made it 3-0 following a corner.

There was a fourth for the Ravens inside the hour mark as Stephen Whitley volleyed in from the edge of the box, while Jack McVey got the fifth with a well-struck free kick curled into the top corner.

With 10 minutes to go, there was a consolation for the hosts, before Dan Simpson fired home in stoppage time to complete the rout.

The win is FC Isle of Man's second of the campaign, and lifts the side up to 13th in the table.
