Young Manx competitor finishes second in class

A young Isle of Man enduro competitor has impressed with a podium finish in competition last weekend.

During last weekend's fourth round of the 20Twenty Scottish Enduro Series in Fort William, Scotland on Sunday (4 October), Max Hitchen put in a strong performance to take the silver medal in the Full Open Junior Class.

The 17-year-old's overall time across all six stages of 15 minutes, 42.42 seconds saw him finish less than 12 seconds off of the pace of class winner, Oliver Johnston (15 minutes, 30.66 seconds).

Meanwhile, completing the podium and taking bronze was Finlo Denton who nearly a minute behind Hitchen with a total time of 16 minutes, 24.31 seconds.

More broadly, Hitchen's pace also saw him finish the meeting 15th in the overall open standings which also includes riders competing at senior, elite and masters level.

The conclusion of the fourth round brings this year's series to an end - whilst Hitchen won't be classified in the overall standings having only completed two of the four events, he finishes the competition with a total of 900 points, a score which would put him only 130 points off the score of third-placed rider in the championship, Thomas Krawczyk.
