FC IOM player re-ignites Balla Boots campaign

Furo Davies hopes to help footballers in Nigeria

An FC IOM player is raising money to help give children in Nigeria the opportunity to play football.

Furo Davies is behind the annual campaign Balla Boots, which collects unwanted football socks and kits from the community and sends them to regions of Nigeria and West Africa.

The Manx footballer has set up a JustGiving page to help cover the costs of shipping.

On it, Davies expresses his reasoning behind setting up Balla Boots saying:

'Having grown up and played football in Nigeria, I experienced the difficulties teenagers face on a day-to-day basis. Football brought about a sense of hope, escapism, and safety but all too often the socio-economic climate in Nigeria brings a halt to their footballing dreams. Football boots and kit can be hard to obtain and maintain, so here's how BallaBoots can help out.'
