Ravens undone by late flurry of goals

A late flurry of three goals in the final ten minutes saw FC Isle of Man suffer a sobering 5-1 defeat away to Charnock Richard in the NWCFL Premier Division this afternoon (1 October).

The Manx side got off to the perfect start after seven minutes when striker Ciaran McNulty headed home from close range after a pinpoint cross from Ste Whitley.

However the lead was short-lived as Charnock Richard equalised with 15 minutes gone courtesy of a well-taken free-kick from Spencer Bibby.

In a close-fought first half the home side then took the lead for the first time in the game as Brad Carsley's strike put Charnock Richard 2-1 in front going into half-time.

Into the second period and FC Isle of Man pushed from the outset to try and get themselves on level terms but to no avail.

The sucker punch for the Island outfit then came with 11 minutes remaining as Charnock Richard netted three times between the 79th and 90th minute through Daniel Regan, Simon Grand and Nathan Nickeas.

The 5-1 defeat means FC Isle of Man are now without a league victory in their last eight.

Speaking to FC IoM's official website, Manager, Chris Bass, believes the result will be another piece on the learning curve for his team:
