Fine weather brings high speeds at TT practice session

An evening of fine weather enabled the competitors to get plenty of laps in, ahead of the first races tomorrow.

The Friday session generally isn't known for really quick times, as riders have one eye on the following day's action.

Some riders were simply trying to register the requisite number of laps to qualify for the races, following a disrupted practice week.

Having said that, Gary Johnson managed a 130mph+ average lap from a standing start, on a Superstock machine, which was the fastest lap of the week in that class.

Bruce Anstey topped 130mph for the second time this week, on his second time around, and logged another one before the end of the session.

But the fastest time of the night, and indeed the week, was Michael Dunlop's 131.5mph.

And local rider Dan Kneen clocked his fastest ever lap, averaging more than 129mph, which he was understandably pleased about when he spoke to Manx Radio TT's Chris Kinley: (play audio)

B/A: As for the Sidecars, Dave Molyneux and Patrick Farrance's lap of more than 114mph on Monday night remains the fastest of the week.

Finally, the TT Zero electric bikes made their first appearance of the week.

John McGuinness was the fastest, averaging almost 112mph for his lap, which is an unofficial lap record.
