Football: 2026 Hospital Cup & Junior Cup competitions to get underway

Preliminary rounds of both tournaments dominate weekend football schedule

Heading into the tail end of the 2025/26 Manx football season, two more cup competitions are set to get started in this weekend's latest local showdowns.

The preliminary rounds of both the Manx Quality Sheds Hospital Cup and Ascot Hotel Junior Cup dominate much of the schedule across Saturday (18 April) which will also see a sprinkling of league encounters.

Among the seven Hospital Cup meetings, Ramsey will begin the defence of their back-to-back titles in this competition with a test at runaway Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 leaders, Colby whilst reigning Canada Life Men's Premier League champions, Peel host this year's GH Corlett Woods Cup winners, Ramsey Youth Centre & Old Boys (Rycob.).

Elsewhere, the prelim stage of the Junior Cup will involve a hefty ten fixtures tomorrow - included there, current Combination Two leaders, Pulrose United host Combination One opposition in the form of Rushen United whilst Combination One contenders, Peel are away at Combination Two title-hopefuls, Douglas Athletic.

In one of the few league fixtures on Saturday, Douglas High School Old Boys (DHSOB.) will be relegated from the Canada Life Men's Premier League if they fail to beat Ayre United at Blackberry Lane.

Meanwhile, Sunday (19 April) will feature a triple helping of matches in women's football - there's a southern derby between Malew and Rushen United in the Women's FA Cup first round whilst there's two Canada Life Women's League ties which see Union Mills host Peel and Corinthians welcome Douglas Royal.
