Football: Lower opposition loses out

Governor’s Athletic won 3-1 at Michael

Football – and there were no shocks in the Friends Provident International FA Cup yesterday (Saturday).

St George’s, Rushen and Douglas Athletic all won convincingly against lower opposition.

St Mary’s and Corinthians saw off St John’s and Laxey respectively in extra-time thrillers.

The other preliminary round tie saw a bit of history created as Governor’s Athletic won 3-1 at Michael – their first ever victory in a Manx cup competition.
