Hockey: Dunn and England begin junior world cup campaign with draw

National side fights back twice to claim point in Santiago

Manx hockey player, Sienna Dunn and the England Under-21 girls team have begun their Junior Women's World Cup campaign with a 2-2 draw against China.

During their opener at the 2025 event in Santiago, Chile on Tuesdya (2 December) England twice came from behind to secure a point from the contest.

A penalty corner from China captain, Guoting Hao put China ahead on 14 minutes before England's Evie Grindal equalised from open play two minutes later.

China led again on 36 minutes through courtesy of a finish from Lizhe Zou before Biba Mills got England back on level terms again with 49 minutes on the clock.

As a result of the stalemate, both sides claimed a point each whilst in the other Pool D contest, South Africa defeated Austria to go top of the pool standings after gameday one.

England's next match will be against South Africa which gets underway tomorrow (4 December) at 9am local time.

Former Valkyrs player, Dunn is captaining the England Under-21 side at the tournament and was also part of the national side which finished fourth at the same event in 2023.
