Bacchas A round off 100 per cent league season

In one of the tightest finishes in living memory, Ramsey have been relegated from the PWC Men’s Premier League.

They lost their top flight status in the most agonising of fashions on Saturday.

As they went down 3-2 to Bacchas B, relegation rivals Castletown A were beaten 6-3 by Vikings A.

It meant both sides finished level on points with the same goal difference but Town stay up, at Ramsey’s expense, having scored one more goal than the northerners over the season.

In the end, the goals from Robin Masson (two) and Christian Steriopoulos proved crucial for Castletown.

Andy Harding (two), Alex Birch (two), Steven Crowe and Macklin Wilson scored for Vikings A who finish third and have a cup final to look forward to.

The Bacchas B scorers against Ramsey were Andy Kneale, Ali Slack and Pat Cox.

At the other end of the table, Bacchas A completed a 100 per cent league season by thrashing second place Valkyrs A 4-1.

Gareth Morris’ goal was only a consolation as Bacchas rounded off a perfect league campaign with strikes from Will Greenbank, Tom Evans (two) and Alex Bell.

In the Women’s Premier League, reigning champions Vikings A thrashed Bacchas A ahead of their meeting in the cup final.

A Breesha Foxton hat-trick, a Megan Roberts double and further goals from Zoe Crowe, Sarah Breen and Kim Carney meant it was an 8-0 romp.

Elsewhere, second placed Ramsey A were too strong for bottom club Bacchas B – Vicky Garner (four), Cristina Kermeen (two) and Julie Chesterton the scorers in a 7-0 rout.

Karmina Kovanda was the star of the show as Valkyrs A edged out Castletown A in a goalfest.

She hit five of her club’s six goals in a 6-4 victory.

Tamsyn Cleavely grabbed the other.

Hannah Leece (two) and Danny Kelly (two) netted twice each for Town.
