Zoe Crowe strike not enough to avoid defeat on Merseyside
The Isle of Man Ladies national hockey side have exited their latest England Hockey Championship campaign after a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool Sefton Ladies 1sts at the weekend.
The Manx side travelled to face their Merseyside hosts in the EH Women's Tier 2 KO Championships on Sunday (25 February) in a game rearranged from one week previous following travel disruption seven days before.
After a goalless first half, Liverpool Sefton broke the deadlock in the second period before adding a second with around 15 minutes to play.
With eight minutes left, the Isle of Man Ladies earned a lifeline as Zoe Crowe converted from a penalty corner to halve the deficit.
In the closing stages, Isle of Man Ladies switched to 11 outfield players in a final attempt to level the scoring, but Liverpool Sefton would go on to restore their two-goal advantage in the final few seconds and ultimately end the contest for the Island side.
