Hockey round-up: Bacchas A retain top-tier title in style

Saracens A seal PwC Men's Division One title

Bacchas A thrashed Valkyrs A 9-1 in the PwC Men's Premier League as they took an unassailable lead at the top of the league and retained their title.

Hat-tricks for Andy Whiting and Karl Moore summed up perfectly the attacking hockey that has seen the Cronkbourne side score an incredible 70 goals this season.

Tony Bentley-Roberts, Elliot Reid and captain Jamie Brown were also on target as they seven points clear of nearest challengers Vikings A with two matches still to play.

It was also a memorable day for Saracens A, who secured the point they needed to win the PwC Men's Division One title and promotion to the top tier.

George Powell scored his 27th of the campaign to give Saracens a half-time lead over Harlequins A.

However, the Douglas outfit rallied hard in the second period and a well-worked move down the right hand side was eventually converted by young forward Joe Middleton.

The stalemate meant Saracens dropped points for the first time this term, ending a run of seven straight league victories.

In the same division, Ramsey B lost 4-1 as Valkyrs B condemned the northern outfit to relegation.
