Hustlers cause upset in snooker league

There was a shock defeat for DSC Five by bottom of the league DSC Hustlers, who battled back from two frames down to win 3-2 and claim their fourth victory of the season.

The match was notable for a break of 68 by Tom Miler, only two behind Darryl Hill's season's best.

DSC Musicians lost 4-1 to DSC Hurricanes, but stay second in the league.

Numerous breaks in the 20s and 30s were scored in the match by players from both sides.

Finch Hill Two are now joint second with Musicians after coming from behind to beat the Union 4-1 down in Castletown.

There was also a win for Finch Hill One, who squezzed past Port St Mary 3-2

Malew edged a topsy-turvy encounter against Castletown 3-2 and Finch Hill Breakers beat DSC Newbys by the same scoreline.

Meanwhile the semi-finals of the Veterans Competition took place at Finch Hill on Thursday last week.

The first semi saw Mel Quine have a 2-0 win against Peter Simpson and a marathon match between “Rocket” Ron Grogan and John Faragher saw John come out a 2-1 winner.

Referees for the evening were Ken Kinrade and Darryl Hill.
