McGreal and Garrett take titles

The men’s singles final in the Island Indoor Bowling Championship between Jimmy Sansom and Mark McGreal was a keenly-fought contest.

Jimmy won the first set 6-5 and Mark the second set 9-6 to set up a one-end tie-break.

Both competitors played some incredible bowls over the course of the afternoon and it was one of those games when neither deserved to lose.

Ultimately though, Mark McGreal did enough to take the title.

The ladies title was retained by Paula Garrett who put up a tremendous effort to beat Janice Pilling in two sets winning 9-4 and 10-1.

It was obvious from the start that Paula was determined not to lose her title as she repeatedly played good bowls into the head.
