Two Manx sides will compete in home nations qualifiers next month

The Isle of Man is chasing the dream of competing in 3v3 Basketball at this summer's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The Island will field both men's and women's teams in the 3v3 Basketball home nations qualifiers taking place in Manchester on Friday, 22 May and Saturday, 23 May.

Once there, both sides will face opponents from England, Northern Ireland and Wales with one spot to compete in the Scottish city up for grabs.

Aspiring men's team players, Jack Wilkinson and Oliver Hamilton say they're relishing the prospect of taking on some of the best in the sport in the UK:

The home nations qualifiers will be held at the Manchester Basketball Performance Centre.

Taking place from Friday, 24 July to Wednesday, 29 July at the SEC Centre in Glasgow during the games, 3v3 Basketball is a fast-paced, half‑court format of the sport.

It's played by two teams of three players, using one hoop and a 12‑second shot clock to keep the action constantly moving.

Games last just 10 minutes or end earlier if a team reaches 21 points.

Scotland will not take part in the home nations qualifiers as they have automatically qualified for the games as hosts.
