Jiu-jitsu: Another impressive medal haul in UK for Gracie Barra

Manx club shines again during competition in London

Manx Jiu-Jitsu club, Gracie Barra, bagged an impressive haul of 16 medals whilst in action in UK competition this month.

A local team of mixed juniors and adults represented the Island squad at the Compnet UK Championship in London on 19 March.

A series of strong performances saw Gracie Barra end the day with a total of six gold medals along with six silver and four bronze.

Among those, British Champion Hayley Curtis took gold in her class after a 3-0 win on points in her final.

Meanwhile, there were also top spots for Summer Roberts, Hanako Henson, Daisy Moore and Finlay Eve who shone in their respective classes, all winning their finals by submission.

Gold also went the way of Alan Greenhalgh whose methodical approach saw him take top honours with a commanding 13-0 win on points in the final of his division.

Gracie Barra Head Coach, Conrad Roberts, says he's proud of how the team performed in the wake of uncertainty over travel to the event, adding it's been a 'strong' start to the year already for them in competition.
