
Academy takes 23 medals in its biggest ever medal haul at event
An Isle of Man jiu-jitsu club has eight new British champions after it's most successful campaign at the British Championships to date.
Summit Grappling Academy managed a total of 23 medals during the 2025 event held on 12-13 July at Warwick University on Coventry.
Among the eight gold medals was six-year-old Ismael Khalil whilst Theodore Sloane, Alan Greenhalgh, Joe Bosworth and Hanako Henson also took top spots in the junior classes.
Elsewhere, Marc Purcell, Sorelle Williams and Rachel Kermeen were among the gold-standard performances in the adult section.
Outside of the gold medals in the junior categories, Ether Patterson; Valeri Topulev; Lucas Hanlon; Koa Hamman; Eliza Patterson and Tyler Collins all performed strongly to take silver in their respective events.
Also among the top-three standings in the juniors were Stanlagh Mayers, Luca Christian and Aden Dunkley-Nation who took bronze.
There were more medals also in the adult classes as Purcell added a personal bronze;
In the team classifications, the junior performances also gave Summit Grappling Academy third place in the overall junior rankings.
The club says 'for the size of the team and the fact Summit is a single club and not an affiliation of many clubs and their members, this is an incredible achievement for our youngsters and coaches alike.'
