Kelly and Camarda shine in Premier League

Important wins for Peel and Douglas Royal

Shaun Kelly and Jack Camarda were the heroes as Peel and Douglas Royal won in the Canada Life Premier League on Saturday.

It took Kelly just a minute to open the scoring against St Mary’s at Douglas Road.

In a frantic opening spell, there were four goals inside the opening quarter of an hour.

Kelly grabbed his second after 10 minutes and Daniel Bell nodded home the third before St Mary’s livewire Steven Priestnal reduced the arrears from the spot.

The Saints battled but Peel were on top and Kelly completed his hat-trick in the 74th minute to secure all three points.

Priestnal added his second two minutes from time to ensure respectability to the scoreline as the westerners finished 4-2 winners.

Douglas Royal are out of the relegation zone after a five-star win at struggling Colby.

Jack Camarda scored twice in a 5-1 win as Chris Feeney’s side leapfrogged the southerners in the table.

Camarda opened the scoring six minutes before the break and Sean Trayler added a key second a minute before the interval.

Young substitute Taylor Andrews extended the lead with 21 minutes remaining.

Jordan Primrose Smith immediately replied to give Colby hope but talented teenager Luca Simmonds restored Royal’s three goal advantage quickly before Camarda completed his double and lifted them off the bottom.
