Leaders stay clear

The leaders in Manx hockey showed their quality again on Saturday.

Andy Whiting hit six as leaders and reigning champions Bacchas A hit Vikings B for 14 without reply.

Johnny Callow added a hat-trick, there were doubles for Tom Wilson and Alex Bell and Jamie Brown netted the other as they stayed two points clear in the Wi Manx Men’s Premier Division.

Nearest rivals Valkyrs A had to come from behind to defeat Vikings A in the match of the day.

Vikings led 2-1 at the break through Conor Byrne and Danny Hammil but Gareth Morris, Greg Miller and Chris Thomas secured an important win for Valkyrs.

Bacchas B showed their talent with a 6-1 success against Valkyrs B.

Experienced player Richard Le Page hit four with Jamie Cox and Sean Corlett also on target.

Chris Killey netted the Valkyrs’ consolation.

The match between mid-table battlers Castletown A and Ramsey A ended goalless.

Vikings A extended their advantage in the women’s Premier League.

Kim Carney (two), Katie Errock and Kirsty Bowley grabbed the goals for the defending champions in a 4-0 success over Bacchas B.

Andrea Kneen was the hero with a double as Valkyrs A were 2-1 winners over high flying Bacchas A, who scored through Claire Louise Lace.

It was the Kelly show for Castletown A as Dani hit four and Kerry two in a 6-0 romp against their B side.

Ramsey A won an exciting contest with Valkyrs B - Julie Chesterton, Ellen Robinson and Christina Kermeen their scorers in a 3-2 victory.
