Kelly triumphs in Olympic skeet

Paul Mihailovits edged out Marty Kneen to win the Ted Gohl Highgun trophy and the top prize in the third round of the SMP Partners sporting league.

He was one of 36 competing in the event in near perfect conditions at Meary Veg in Santon, securing 41 points out of 50.

Kneen was in second place on 40 with Jack Clague third in A Class on 37 points.

That score was equalled by James Simpson who triumphed in Class B with a tie for second place between Peter Kelly and Stan Cross on 33 points.

Roy ‘The Artist’ Moore took C class with 31 points from Brian Faragher on 25 and Ted Davis and Rob Marshall who were equal third on 24 points.

There was some fine shooting from all competitors with the fourth stand proving to be hardest by far with only 19 targets hit out of 144.

Results:

A Class: 1, P Mihailovits 41; 2, M. Kneen 40; 3, J. Clague 37.

B Class: 1, J. Simpson 37; 2 (equal) P. Kelly & S. Cross 33; 4, W. MacLeod 32.

C Class: 1, R. Moore 31; 2, B. Faragher 25; 3, T. Davis & R. Marshall 24.

Nigel Kelly won the fourth round of the Manx Petroleum’s Olympic skeet league.

He took top spot on an impressive 46 on Sunday afternoon.

Two shots clear of David Clague who was a further one ahead of third placed James Bradley.

This weekend is the fifth round of the Tower Insurance DTL league. Entries close at 10am.
