Nomads get off to winning start

Southern Nomads got their Shimmin Wilson Manx Trophy campaign off to a good start by beating Vagabonds B 24-20 at Ballafletcher.

Adam Boyd, Harry Wint, Ian Hargreaves and Harry Brereton all picked up tries for Nomads with Boyd and Dan Bridle kicking a conversion apiece.

Chris Neill and Joe Louw both crossed for battling Vagabonds with Johnny Beckley’s trusty boot adding two penalties and two conversions.

Ramsey B beat Emerging Nomads 77-5 at Mooragh Park in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Bowl and made some amends after last week’s disappointment of being unable to field a team.

Back row man Matty Meechan picked up a hat-trick of tries for Ramsey with Ben Harding, Rory Nicholson and Ethan Benjamin all getting two apiece, added to by single scores from Luke Robertson, Andy Cleator, Gareth Hinge and Andy Done.

Harding kicked four conversions and Cleator two.

Dale Williams picked up the consolation try for Emerging Nomads.
