Old Boys win big tie; Marown surprise Mills

Old Boys are through to the quarter-finals of the Paddy Power FA Cup.

An impressive 2-0 win at Rushen United, courtesy of Darren Hudgeon and Sean Gavin goals, settled the tie of the round.

And it also set up the tie of the next round as Old Boys will host league champions St George’s.

They booked their place with a 7-2 win at battling Michael United.

Michael led 2-1 at the break - Peter Fisher their scorer with a double.

But the Geordies showed their class after the break to finish comfortable winners.

Ciaran McNulty (two), Callum Morrissey (two), Ryan Gartland and Connor Doyle were among their marksmen.

Marown caused a surprise with a 2-1 victory at top flight Union Mills.

The win was secured with goals from Juan Killip and Sean Doyle.

Steve Quine reduced the arrears for Mills who missed the chance to take the tie into extra-time when a late penalty was saved.

Peel showed no mercy to Second Division Onchan with an 8-1 win at Onchan Stadium.

A hat-trick from Daniel Hawke, two from Lee Gale and one each from Dan Pickering, Andy Quirk and Daniel Bell booked the westerners a home tie with Pulrose.Craig Marsh netted the understrength home side’s consolation.

Ramsey had too much top flight know how for second division Douglas Royal with a 5-2 triumph at Ballacloan.

Michael Simpson was the star with a treble and was joined on the scoresheet by Chris Duggan (penalty) and Kris Halsall.

Paul Whitley and Simon Kewley replied for Royal.
