Rider explains extent of injuries after incident in qualifying
TT competitor Peter Hickman has given an update on the extent of the injuries he suffered in a crash at this year's event.
The outright lap record holder at the races was involved in an incident at Kerrowmoar during Superbike and Superstock qualifying on Friday, 30 May.
In an update on social media, the 8TENRacing rider says his injuries included a broken collarbone, broken scapula and four broken vertebrae.
Whilst describing the situation as 'not ideal', Hickman is thanking all those who helped him after the incident and for the support he's had since:
On what caused the crash, Hickman says the reason has been identified as a 'component failure' in which part of the exhaust bracket 'broke' and the exhaust itself went into the rear wheel and punctured the rear tyre.
The incident ruled the 14-time TT winner out of the remainder of the racing fortnight.
His 8TENRacing co-owner and teammate Davey Todd went on to win this year's Superbike race and claim two second-placed finishes for 8TENRacing in the first and second Superstock races.
