Defending champion Andrew Pitt finished fifth in the latest round of the Supersport World Championship in Italy at the weekend.
The Peel resident has struggled in the last couple of rounds after a promising start to the campaign and crashed out in the previous one at Assen.
But his finish in Monza has pushed him back up one position in the championship standings to fourth, although he remains a considerable distance behind the in-form Cal Crutchlow.
He won the race to open up an 18 point lead over Eugene Laverty and is 45 ahead of Pitt.
